I've heard the Natatorium on Warm Springs ave in Boise powered by hot springs

Ahh yes, the Natatorium. Unfortunately, it disappeared many years ago. There are still remnants visible at and near the site. I believe after the 2nd earthquake the city decided to not rebuild it. The geothermal well has since been capped and any other outflow re-routed to the Warm Springs district. Here's an old post that mentions the Natatorium...

Hmm... there is a public pool right on warm springs ave and marsden, i was under the impression that this was on the location of the early natatorium buildings (i've heard other boise locals refer to this pool as the natatorium). I was also under the impression that they used geothermal energy to heat the pool.

hettinger,

Thanks for the link, very cool. Sadly, the facilities are not geothermal-powered. It's a shame Boise doesn't take advantage and have at least a pool. The Natatorium, in the past, had a shady reputation... maybe that's why?

In the foothills, over by the State Pen, are remnants of pools from the past. I've heard that some private residences in that area have geo-pools in their backyard.

Best,
